Thomasville Furniture began as Thomasville Chair Company in 1904, making 500 to 1000 chairs a day by 1905. Thomas Jefferson Finch and Charles F. Finch of Randolph County bought the company in 1907. Aaron Buff (August 31, 1911 – January 11, 1994) [1] was a state-acclaimed chair-maker who specialized in making slatback chairs [2] with woven oak-spit seats, children's chairs and highchairs. His chairs have been purchased by the North Carolina Museum of History, and are also displayed at Hart Square in Hickory, North Carolina. [2]
White Furniture Company, was a major American producer of hand-crafted fine furniture for over a century (1881–1993). Founded by the White Brothers of Mebane, North Carolina , the factory notably produced furnishings for the US government and the Grove Park Inn .
