Route 1 or the Ring Road (Icelandic: Þjóðvegur 1 or Hringvegur pronounced [ˈr̥iŋkˌvɛːɣʏr̥] ⓘ) is a national road in Iceland that circles the entire country. The airport is located approximately 3 km south of Akureyri. The town of Akureyri is the largest in Northern Iceland, and the airport serves as a gateway to the wider region.
