The Tricare logo. Tricare (styled TRICARE) is a health care program of the United States Department of Defense Military Health System. [1] Tricare provides civilian health benefits for U.S Armed Forces military personnel, military retirees, and their dependents, including some members of the Reserve Component.
Since 1956, WPS has continually served the Military Health System as a claims administrator. WPS managed the first regional plan for Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS). WPS MVH provides claims administration, customer service, and related activities for the TRICARE Overseas Program and TRICARE For Life Program.

There is/was an option for military retirees called "Tricare for Life" which covered retirees and eligible dependents. As I understood it, it was the same as Tricare standard/basic, but for retirees. I don't know how it works once Medicare kicks in at age 65. It would probably improve the article if this was worked into the article.--
