Bhediya (pronounced [ˈbʱeːɽɪjɑː]; transl. Wolf) is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language comedy horror film directed by Amar Kaushik. Produced by Dinesh Vijan from a story and screenplay by Niren Bhatt , it stars Varun Dhawan alongside Kriti Sanon , Abhishek Banerjee , Deepak Dobriyal and Paalin Kabak.
The seventh installment and a sequel to Bhediya, titled Bhediya 2, is in the pipeline, with Amar Kaushik returning as the director and Varun Dhawan reprising his role. While the project has been officially announced, the makers are still in the pre-production phase, and principal photography has not yet started.
They also have their own film universe called the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe which consists of Stree (2018), Stree 2 (2024), Bhediya (2022) and Munjya (2024). The franchise has been commercially successful, having grossed a combined ₹1,186 crore against a combined budget of ₹235 crore. [1]
He was born in Kanpur city in the state of Uttar Pradesh in a Gaur Brahmin family. [1] Amar Kaushik grew up in Medo, Arunachal Pradesh [2] where his father was a forest ranger who worked for the Indian Forest Service and his mother Shashi was a school teacher.
