In the “early days,” Ebags sold all kinds of brands including some Rick Steve luggage. Then, Ebags got more focused - for good reason. Then, started merging with Samsonite. Then, covid hit and severely reduced traveling and luggage sales. Then, ebags really cut back on inventory. Then, the insane clearance sales.
Ebags Buyers beware! Just wanted to share a recent experience I had with Ebags. Note: I have been a loyal and frequent customer of Ebags for over 15 years and I have always been very pleased with everything I've purchased from them. However, my latest experience has convinced me to never purchase anything else from them.
Overall I would say that going forward this eBags is going to be my go-to choice for travel, with the RS convertible carryon now held in reserve for occasions that call for bulkier clothes or an extra suit. And unexpanded it will serve for trips that only require one change of clothes.
Has anyone found replacement wheels for this bag? The generic ones from Amazon have the wrong inside diameter for the axle.
The only way to prevent this from happening is to put some sort of plastic extension on the front bottom of the bag. Then the bag becomes thicker, defeating the purpose. That’s something to think about. Bags that don’t have this problem are going to be thicker. The eBags luggage is a full 2” thicker than the Rick Steves bag.
I carry a cross-body bag as my personal item when I travel with my Ebags Weekender backpack. There are a variety of sizes out there so you can find the one that best fits your needs, particularly for daily touring use when you don't have the backpack with you so you have a place for money, sunglasses, water bottle, travel paperwork, book or kindle, etc.
It was sad. Ebags has luggage marked way down and only seems to have a few brands in stock. Possibly brands that the Ebags/Samsonite company owns. Almost looks like it's going out of business. Then, I started thinking about the workers in countries like the Phillipines and Vietnam who make the luggage. These poor folks must be in financial dire ...

I think that 22x14x9 is the standard. Four airlines with almost 60% of the market accept that size as carry-on. Only one airline, Southwest, with about 17% market share, really accepts larger than 22x14x9 (and they check the 1st 2 bags for free).
Ebags has their own line of luggage and they are very good quality. I believe you'd be better off with a bag that expands if necessary rather than starting with a big bag. Remember also that airline weight limits for checked bags are limited and if you go over you pay extra--and it's not cheap.
