Lake Guntersville State Park is a public recreation area located on the far north side of the city of Guntersville in Marshall County, Alabama. The state park occupies 5,909 acres (2,391 ha) on the eastern shore of Guntersville Lake , a 69,000-acre (28,000 ha) impoundment of the Tennessee River .
The lake stretches 75 miles (121 km) from Guntersville Dam to Nickajack Dam. It is Alabama's largest lake at 69,100 acres (279.6 km 2). [1] It is separated by the Guntersville Dam from Wheeler Lake, which at 68,300 acres (276.4 km 2) is Alabama's second largest lake. Both lakes are part of the Tennessee River.

Wheeler Lake is located in the northern part of the state of Alabama in the United States, between Rogersville and Huntsville. Created by Wheeler Dam along the Tennessee River , it stretches 60 miles (97 km) from Wheeler Dam to Guntersville Dam .
State Route 62 (SR 62), also known as Monsanto Road, is a 2.443-mile-long (3.932 km) state highway near Guntersville in Marshall County. The highway heads east from lakeside homes and marinas along Lake Guntersville to SR 227 near Guntersville. SR 62 previously provided access to a (now abandoned) Monsanto plant, for which it was built and named.
The state park occupies 2,000 acres (810 ha) surrounding a natural pocket (canyon) of the Appalachian Mountain chain along South Sauty Creek, an upstream tributary on the east side of Guntersville Lake. [2] The park is known for the sweeping views of its rugged, seemingly untouched landscape provided from the heights of Point Rock. [3] [4]
