Later founding the Vancouver Pacific Swim Club. Jacks became head coach with the Hyack Swim Club from 1974 to 1984 when he moved to Victoria, BC to become the head coach of the Victoria Amateur Swim Club. In 1988 he helped in the formation of Island Swimming, and held the position of Director of Swimming until 2002.
The Vancouver Aquatics Centre is an indoor facility. [1] It replaces the Crystal Pool at Sunset Beach that was opened in 1928 and was demolished in 1974. [ 2 ] A contract to renew the facility was let in 2023 and the project is expected to take seven years to complete. [ 3 ]
Hayden's first Olympics were the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, as part of the Canadian swimming team. [1] [2] At the time Swimming Canada had been in a steady decline and wound up with no medals in Athens. [3] It was a disappointing first Olympic appearance for Hayden, as inexperience took its toll on the 20-year-old. [4]
Elizabeth "Liz" Collins (born November 29, 1982) is a female swimmer from Canada, who mostly competes in the freestyle events. Collins won three silver medals at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is starting her third year of coaching Vancouver Pacific Swim Club in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Jessica Deglau (born May 27, 1980) was a member of the Canadian Olympic team in swimming in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games. Deglau swam for the Vancouver Pacific Swim Club in her youth, until becoming a member of the national team. In addition to swimming on the national team, she swam for and graduated from the University of British Columbia.
Randy Bennett (November 11, 1963 – April 27, 2015) [1] was a Canadian swimming coach who primarily operated out of the West Coast of Canada during his career. From 2009 until his death in 2015 he was the coach of the Canadian National Swim Team including during the 2012 Summer Olympics where his protege Ryan Cochrane won his second Olympic medal. [2]

The inaugural Bay Challenge, originally known as the "Vancouver Sun Swimming Marathon," was designed as a publicity event to celebrate the opening of Kitsilano Pool in 1931. The event was organized by the Vancouver Amateur Swim Club and had 41 registrants – 12 women and 29 men.
