The Mahaweli River (Sinhala: මහවැලි ගඟ, literally "Great Sandy River"; Tamil: மகாவலி ஆறு [mahawali gangai]), [2] is a 335 km (208 mi) long river, ranking as the longest river in Sri Lanka.
