Sociedad Protectora de la Mujer, was a women's organization in Mexico, founded in 1904. [1] Sociedad Protectora de la Mujer has been referred to as the first feminist women's rights organization in Mexico. The Sociedad supported the introduction of women's suffrage and promoted women's rights.
In 1902, a Royal Decree of July 11 established the Royal Board for the Repression of White Slavery within the Ministry of Justice, later reformed in 1904 and 1909. With the arrival of the Second Republic, it was reorganized in 1931 as the Board for the Protection of Women and was dissolved in 1935, transferring its powers to the Superior Council for the Protection of Minors. [1]
The Union published a periodical called Por la Mujer (For Women), which was the first feminist periodical in Paraguay. Among other causes, it promoted women's suffrage and equality of the sexes. The Union held meetings in the capitol and throughout Paraguay to raise awareness among women about their rights.
Sociedad Nacional para el Progreso de la Mujer (National Society for the Progress of Women), was a women's organization in Panama, founded in 1923. [ 1 ] It played an important role in the campaign for women's suffrage in Panama, alongside the Grupo Feminista Renovación under the leadership of Esther Neira de Calvo .
