Palatka station is an Amtrak train station in Palatka, Florida. It is served by the daily Floridian and Silver Meteor trains. The 1908-built station houses the Palatka Railroad Preservation Society and the David Browning Railroad Museum. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 as Old A.C.L. Union Depot.
The Palatka Branch was built by predecessors St. Johns Railway, the St. Augustine and Palatka Railway, and the St. Johns and Halifax River Railroad which all became the Florida East Coast Railway in 1895. The line was the Florida East Coast Railway's main line until the construction of the Moultrie Cutoff in 1925.
Palatka: Palatka: used the Southern Railway station at the St. Johns River via trackage rights connections to the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad main line and the Florida East Coast Railway main line (a route that would be bypassed by the Moultrie Cut-off to become the Palatka Branch in 1925).

Micanopy station. The Florida Southern Railway was first chartered as the Gainesville, Ocala, and Charlotte Harbor Railroad in 1879, with a planned route from Lake City to Charlotte Harbor with a branch to Palatka to connect with steamboats on the St. Johns River. The name was then changed to the Florida Southern Railway in 1881. [1]
