The Continental Mark VII, later changed to Lincoln Mark VII, is a rear wheel drive luxury coupe that was produced by Lincoln. Introduced in August 1983 for the 1984 model year, [ 2 ] the Continental Mark VII shared its Ford Fox platform with the Ford Thunderbird , Mercury Cougar , and Lincoln Continental .
1988–1989 Lincoln Mark VII LSC. For its launch, the Mark VII was marketed in an unnamed standard trim, Designer Series, and the LSC. The Designer Series returned the Bill Blass Edition, with a Gianni Versace Edition replacing the Pucci Edition.
The decklid adopted the electric trunklid closure feature from the Mark VII as standard equipment. [74] All Continentals now came with aluminum wheels, with a full disc wheel replacing the previous wheel covers. 1993–1996 Lincoln Mark VIII. The 1993 Mark VIII was a larger car than its predecessor, being about five inches longer and nearly four inches wider than the Mark VII. The car also had a wheelbase of 113.0 in (2,870.2 mm), over 4 in (101.6 mm) longer than the Mark VII's, which afforded greater interior space and ride quality.
For the 1993 model year, the Lincoln Mark VII was replaced by the Lincoln Mark VIII. The first generation of the Mark series originally branded as a Lincoln, the Mark VIII remained a variant of the Ford Thunderbird/Mercury Cougar, shifting from the 1980 Fox chassis to the FN10 chassis (a Lincoln version of the MN12 chassis).
