The Billings Montana Temple was dedicated on November 20, 1999 by church president Gordon B. Hinckley. The Helena Montana Temple was dedicated on 18 June 2023 by Gary E. Stevenson. The Missoula Montana Temple was announced on April 3, 2022 by church president Russell M. Nelson.
The LDS Church has 367 temples in various phases, which includes 202 dedicated temples (193 operating and 9 previously-dedicated, but closed for renovation [1]), 3 scheduled for dedication, 51 under construction, 2 scheduled for groundbreaking, [2] and 112 others announced (not yet under construction). The intent to construct the temple was announced on January 25, 2010, by church president Thomas S. Monson. The temple is located near the intersection of 930 West and 1550 South in Payson, on previously undeveloped land. Additional details, such as the temple's planned size, were not available at the time of the announcement. [3]
