Alfred Duma Municipality (Zulu: UMasipala wase Alfred Duma) is a local municipality within the uThukela District Municipality, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. It was established for the August 2016 local elections by merging the Emnambithi/Ladysmith and Indaka local municipalities. [2]
The uThukela District Municipality (Zulu: UMasipala wesiFunda sase uThukela) is one of the 11 districts of the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Its seat is Ladysmith . As of 2011, a majority of its 668,848 inhabitants spoke isiZulu .
It was established for the August 2016 local elections by the merging of Emnambithi/Ladysmith and Indaka local municipalities. [1] In the election of 3 August 2016 the African National Congress (ANC) won a majority of forty-six seats on the council, while in 2021, the Inkatha Freedom Party won a plurality of thirty-three seats.
