"For Reasons Unknown" is a song by American rock band The Killers and was written by lead vocalist Brandon Flowers. It is the fifth track on their second studio album Sam's Town, released in October 2006.
The band struggled to get the right mix for the song, going through nearly 90 mixes of it, with Flowers describing it as a “stubborn son of a bitch.” [3] Writing about the song for Apple Music , Flowers said that the song was about "repentance", which he acknowledged is "not a typical subject in a pop or rock song".
The song was made available for download on iTunes from October 12, 2007. A limited edition etched 7-inch vinyl of "Tranquilize" was available from November 5, featuring a lyric from the song hand-picked by Brandon Flowers etched on one side. The song reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart and also charted in Australia, Austria, and Canada.
It was serviced to UK hot adult contemporary radio on December 9, 2017, as the album's third and final single. [1] The accompanying music video, directed by Danny Drysdale, was released on January 9, 2018, and depicts a woman who suffers from loneliness and depression at several points in her life, from childhood to adulthood.
