The Topcon 35A was unveiled in 1953. In 1960 the company produced a 6x9 press camera on order from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. It initially used a Mamiya lens; civilian models became available with Topcon lenses. With the 35 mm Topcon RE Super of 1963, the company pioneered full-aperture, through-the-lens metering.
The Topcon RE Super, or Beseler Topcon Super D in USA, was launched by Tokyo Kogaku KK in 1963 and manufactured until 1971, at which point it was upgraded to the Super D and again to Super DM the following year. General sale continued for several years. These later models have a shutter release lock lever on the shutter release collar.
The Kiev 35A is a semi-automatic 35 mm camera made by the Soviet Kiev-Arsenal factory. A copy of the Minox 35 camera and similar to Minox 35EL; it is small and lightweight. It is sometimes compared to the LOMO LC-A camera. The camera is notable for its unreliability, light leaks and many electronic flaws (like failure to open shutter). [1] [2]
