Seneca County Courthouse Complex at Ovid, also known as the "Three Bears", is a historic courthouse complex located at Ovid in Seneca County, New York.The 1845 courthouse, known as "Papa Bear", is a 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story, three-by-four-bay, Neoclassical brick structure with a monumental frame pedimented portico supported by four Doric order columns and topped by a cupola.
Seneca County is located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census , the population was 33,814. [ 2 ] The primary county seat is Waterloo , moved there from the original county seat of Ovid in 1819.
The library was founded in 1899, and University of the State of New York granted it "Ovid Free Library" charter in December 1899. At first, the library was located at the residence of James French, which was also the office of the Ovid Gazette and Independent. [2] In 1905, the library moved into the Seneca County Clerk's Office.
