Kakashi Hatake (Japanese: はたけ カカシ, Hepburn: Hatake Kakashi) is a fictional character and one of the main protagonists in the Naruto manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. In the story, Kakashi is the teacher of Team 7 , consisting of the series' primary characters, Naruto Uzumaki , Sasuke Uchiha , and Sakura Haruno .
After Naruto gains proper control over the wind element, Kakashi tells him that creating his own unique attack will require mixing wind with his Rasengan (螺旋丸, lit. spiral sphere, English manga: "Spiral Chakra Sphere").
The six chapters between Part I and Part II form a gaiden taking place before the regular storyline, called the "Kakashi Chronicles" (カカシ外伝, "Kakashi gaiden"). An anime adaptation of the series, produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo, was aired on TV Tokyo, with the first episode shown on October 3, 2002.

Naruto's Rasengan and Sasuke's Chidori clash, though neither is capable of overpowering the other. Activating the First State his Cursed Seal in order to gain an advantage, Sasuke mercilessly beats Naruto, but his Chidori nearly hits his heart.
Kakashi explains Kakuzu's abilities to Yamato, and asks if Naruto completed adding wind chakra to the Rasengan. Yamato says it only works 50% of the time, as Kakashi recalls how Naruto was able to cancel out his own Rasengan during training, reminding him of the Fourth Hokage.
Kakashi explains the principles behind harnessing one's elemental nature and adding it to his chakra in order to change it, citing Naruto's Rasengan as a good example of this phenomenon.
