The Carola Bridge is a bridge in Dresden across the Elbe river, built in 1967–71 replacing an earlier bridge, which had been built in 1895. The earlier Carola Bridge was destroyed by the SS on 7 May 1945, one day before VE Day, to prevent Soviet advance. A large section of the new bridge collapsed on 11 September 2024. [1]
As plans to build a bridge at this location had existed for a century, in 1996, in line with a revised traffic model, the Dresden City Council agreed to the project. After almost eight years of preparation for the process of obtaining planning permission, a public referendum on whether to build the bridge was held in 2005.

The Augustus Bridge is a bridge in the city of Dresden, in the state Saxony in Germany.
