Barbara Joan Higgins (born September 21, 1962) is best known in Southern Alberta for her 21 year career as senior anchor, writer and producer of the 6 o'clock news for CTV Calgary. After a 26 year career as a journalist, Higgins left her post at CTV in July 2010 to run for public office in the Calgary mayoral election. [2]

He joined the CTV National News in 1963 as co-anchor replacing Baden Langton who had joined ABC News.He initially co-anchored with Peter Jennings and Ab Douglas but when Jennings followed Langton to ABC, Kirck became sole anchor with Douglas doing inserts from Ottawa.

He was CTV’s Parliamentary Bureau Chief and co-anchored the first CTV National News program with Baden Langdon (later with Peter Jennings) in November 1962.
