Between 2002 and 2004, Dark Horse Comics released a comprehensive 23-volume set entitled Osamu Tezuka's Original Astro Boy, based on the 1999 Japanese language Akita Shoten collection. This presented the stories in Tezuka’s preferred order rather than in strict chronological order.
Atom (known as Astro Boy or just Astro in English) originally appeared as a supporting character in the comic Atom Taishi (Ambassador Atom, sometimes referred to as Captain Atom), which appeared in Shonen, a monthly magazine for boys, in April 1951. Tezuka then created a comic series in which Astro was the main character.

Ken Steacy (born January 8, 1955) [1] is a Canadian comics artist and writer best known for his work on the NOW Comics comic book series of Astro Boy and of the Comico comic series of Jonny Quest, as well as his graphic novel collaborations with Harlan Ellison (Night and the Enemy, 1987) and Dean Motter (The Sacred and the Profane, 1987).
