Daniel Seth Loeb (born December 18, 1961) [1] is an American investor, hedge fund manager, and philanthropist. He is the founder and chief executive of Third Point , a New York-based hedge fund focused on event-driven , value-oriented investing with $4 billion in assets under management , as of December 2023.
Loeb was born on December 26, 1905, in Washington, D.C., the son of Catharine/Katherine Wilhelmina (Dorr) and William Loeb Jr. (1866–1937). [1] His parents were both of German descent. His father was executive secretary to Theodore Roosevelt, and a nationally known figure in his own day. Loeb's grandfather was William Loeb I, a German immigrant.
