The fifth generation Maxima was a badge engineered variant of the JDM A33 Nissan Cefiro, which was itself marketed globally, including by Nissan North America's luxury Infiniti brand as the I30 and subsequently as the I35. The A33 Cefiro was marketed in Europe as the Maxima QX.
