DeKalb Township is one of nineteen townships in DeKalb County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 42,667 and it contained 18,004 housing units. [ 2 ] DeKalb Township was originally named Orange Township, but was renamed on November 20, 1850.
DeKalb County was formed on March 4, 1837, [3] out of Kane County, Illinois. The county was named for Johann de Kalb, [4] a German hero of the American Revolutionary War. DeKalb County's area is approximately 632.7 square miles, and it is located 63 miles west of Chicago. There are 19 townships in the county; the county seat is Sycamore.

Shabbona Township is one of nineteen townships in DeKalb County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,344 and it contained 600 housing units. [ 2 ] The township contains the Chief Shabbona Forest Preserve and Shabbona Lake State Park .
Malta Township is one of nineteen townships in DeKalb County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,557 and it contained 631 housing units. [ 2 ] Malta Township was originally formed as Etna Township from a portion of DeKalb Township in September, 1856; it was renamed to Malta Township in December 1858.

South Grove Township is one of nineteen townships in DeKalb County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 447 and it contained 201 housing units. [ 2 ] South Grove Township was renamed from Vernon Township on November 20, 1850.
