If you don't want to read everything below, basically I need some input on 9mm 115gr FMJ ammo that will make power factor for the upcoming NH State IDPA match. Here's the scenario: I shot the IDPA New England Regional Championship a few weeks ago and was using Blazer Brass 115gr FMJ ammo. Of the 3 initial rounds chrono'ed only one made the ...
The lighter 115 grain loads are for plinking. Corbon DPX and Hornady FTX 115 grainers are definitely not for plinking. DukeInMaine said: The heavier 147 grain loads are the good ones for self defense, especially if you can find hollow points of any design, at that weight.
Feb 29, 2016. #1/7. I picked up four boxes of Hornady American Gunner ammo a few weeks ago. Went shooting with it Saturday. I bought two boxes of 9mm+p 124 grain XTPs and two boxes of .45 Auto 185 grain XTPs. I am not impressed. Out of 20 rounds of .45 I had 2 failure to fires in my Ruger SR45.
ScottP. 9mm works fine, no issues. 380acp is filthy, used it 4 different guns. Cleaning the barrel back to where it’s clean takes me 30 minutes . Tried Hoppes bore cleaner, and boretech carbon cleaner. Soak 5 minutes, run the bronze brush, then a patch, rinse and repeat about 6-8 times. I’ll buy the 9mm again, zero fails.
Jan 10, 2023. #1/8. Hummm. 90 Grain solid copper projectile. Lots of expansion with this HP round. The Ballistic Machinist Interceptor line is personal defense ammunition at its finest. With over 295% of expansion that makes this round one of the largest opening 9mm on the market today. With 99.9% weight retention and 9 inches of penetration in ...
I brought 2 50-count boxes of 9mm ammo with me - one was Winchester white box and the other was Blazer Brass. Both purchased locally and within the past three weeks. I was using my SR9 which, after tonight, has about 300 rounds through it in total. Here's what happened: Loaded a magazine with ten rounds of Winchester.
My preferred cartridge for USPSA in 9mm (mostly I've used in p320 and s&w 929 with special moonclips from TK customs, but it did cycle my g17), and I use the 205gr .40 as well (glock 35-based). I intend to try it in my recently built 6" 9mm 1911, just haven't made it to the range at the same time as I've had 150s (if I think of it and notice ...
For the same reason people shoot .38 Special out of .357 Magnum revolvers - just because they can. However the .357 & .38 are closer to each other in case dimension than the 9mm & .380. Perhaps the .380 could be safely shot out of a 9mm revolver using moon clips, but that doesn't address the real issue here.
Oct 7, 2016. #25/43. Went to the range this morning with 100rds of Federal 9mm 115gr. Only issue I had was a failure to feed using a 15rd Pre-ban mag (prob needs new spring/follower) other than that it ran fine so it was definitely the Blazer Brass ammo.
All I can say is be cautious with your experimentation. Hirt is a whole order of magnitude above most +P+ ammo, though. I'd call it more like +p+++++ lol. 124gr @ 1330 fps + out of a pistol! Hirt makes typical +P+ like pble, ra9ta, etc, look "normal" in comparison. -Mike.
