How to find my towing capacity/. In the Fall of 2019 I bought a used 2018 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 5.7L V8 Hemi 4wd truck with the 5'6" bed on it. I did get it from the dealership and it was slightly used, had roughly 3,000 miles on it. It does not have a tow hitch installed nor does it have the electronic trailer brake controller...
Just a start where to look stuff up to find cargo & towing information. This is the location of the cargo capacity sticker on the driver's side door jamb. This is what it looks like and has the cargo capacity listed in Kg and Lbs. This sticker lists the information for your truck, VIN, axle ratings and Gross Vehicle Weight.
Using chart, 1740 pounds payload capacity and estimating 200 pounds per person including personal gear in truck plus 50 pounds of hitch stuff and absolutely nothing else in truck, and also estimating 15% of trailer weight on tongue of trailer, your maximum trailer weight is 1740-450 = 1290 / .15 = 8600 which exceeds your 7400 pounds.
2,590. Location. AZ - 83 Miles SW of the Geographical Center. Ram Year. 2023. Engine. 6.4 Hemi. I have the Stellantis 2023 Ram 2500 & 3500 Heavy Duty Tow Chart, and the 2023 Ram 1500 Classic (DS) Tow Chart. These took a while to find because there are a whole bunch of websites listing various different numbers, but I figured the Stellantis ones ...
Adding a hitch receiver, the hitch plus WDH setup will subtract about 150 pounds from your PC, or 1400 (rounded) - 150 = 1,250 PC for occupants, gear in truck, any aftermarket accessories that might have been added to truck. When buying trailer, don't rely on dry weight to do math for tongue weight.
Engine. Hemi 5.7 VVT. suicideking said: I'm considering a RAM 1500. It would be a crew cab, short bed, 5.7 V8 engine. The most common gear ratio is the 3.21 which will be 8120lbs. I would need 3.92 gears to get the higher capacity of 11,220. The only model I've found that consistently comes with the 3.92 gears is the Rebel.
So far, the leader is a Grey Wolf 21RR, dry hitch of 693 ( I used 1000 as a guide on the slider tool), 4337 dry weight, plus 2000 for quads, gear, etc, gets me to 6400 roughly. I am hoping the 3.21's have no problem with 6400, which I feel they wont. Jan 30, 2014. #13.

According to Ram tow guides, the same truck with a 3.55 and 3.92 axler have a towing capacity of 7, 210 lbs. Has anyone ever upgraded an axle ratio in ...
I have a 2019 1500 Classic with the factory tow package with sway control, Class IV hitch, trailer brakes, wiring harness, in dash trailer controls, blah blah blah. According to any specs you look at (including the VIN decoder), the truck has a minimum 8000 lb tow capacity and 800 lb tongue capacity. But Stamped on the bumper is “5000 lb max ...
