    The full title of "toasted sandwich" seems alien to me. "Toasted cheese sandwich" especially is, I think, unarguably American, the preferred title being "cheese toastie." Outside of the context of specific types of toastie, "jam toastie" and "ham toastie" as opposed to "toasted jam sandwich" and "toasted ham sandwich", I cannot say.
