The Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE) was a test to assess mastery of content standards, introduced during the No Child Left Behind education reform effort and discontinued in 2013. [1] [2] It was administered in grades 10-12. [3] Students were not allowed to receive a diploma until they had passed all sections of the exam.

Sheffield High School awards an advanced diploma, a standard diploma, an occupational diploma, and a certificate of attendance. The advanced diploma and the standard diploma are awarded to students who acquire the required credits (Carnegie units) in a defined program and also pass the Alabama High School Graduation Exam.
It is the only high school in the Homewood City School System. The principal is Joel Henneke. [2] In the summer of 2007, the front of the school was remodeled, and a new building, Pathways Alternative School, was constructed in the upper level of the student parking lot. The front office and lobby were also remodeled in the summer of 2008. [3]
