On 24 September, Leicester City travelled to the Bescot Stadium to play Walsall in an EFL Cup third round match. The game finished 0–0 with both sides unable to score any goals. In the penalty shoot-out, Danny Ward saved all 3 Walsall penalties to help Leicester advance through to the fourth round 3–0 on penalties.
