He was Supervisor of the Town of Attica for some time, and Assessor of Internal Revenue from 1869 to 1871. He was a member of the New York State Senate (30th D.) from 1878 to 1881, sitting in the 101st, 102nd, 103rd and 104th New York State Legislatures. He was buried at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica.
