I have both a 2010 MINI Cooper hatchback (manual) and a 2014 MINI Cooper convertible (automatic). Both non-S. The 2014 has been rock solid. Nothing needed but basic scheduled maintenance. It's only got about 50k miles on it. Gently driven by my wife. Based on the good experience with the 2014. I bought the 2010 hatchback for my daughter.

As an owner of a mini cooper countryman 2012, I have to say, don't buy a mini, it's made of BMW, and honestly the company seems to make its money on repairs. Every other month it's something, lights, air flow thing, doors, windows, gearbox, everything is falling apart.
I’m very close to getting my daughter a 2015 mini cooper S convertible for her birthday. I’m a mechanical type of guy and want to ensure all the basic wear points are looked into/repaired before I hand over the keys. What’s the best place to buy parts online? Are there safe aftermarket brands or should I absolutely stick with OEM only.
I piss people off but still say it: Friends don't let friends buy second gens. Our '14 N18 Countryman is at $25k in repairs at 160k miles. $9500 from 0-100k miles.
I need to do front strut assembly on my wife's 2011 Mini Cooper S. I found them on carparts.com. Are they a good site or would I be better off going through Rock Auto? Also, is it better to do the whole assembly? Certainly seemed easier to do. Plus her car has always ridden like a Teddy Roosevelt.
Any more the 2014+ cooper is a 3 cylinder turbo, s is a 4 cylinder turbo (at least in us, pretty sure it's same in canada) however for the most part the F-gens seem to be the most reliable mini so far.

Buy a Used Mini just be Very Through on your Inspection/ Tes Drive. I boght my 1st mini (R53-S Facelift) about 2.5months ago now. Had 154K miles on it. Engine is strong Mechanically it Runs Great. So i plan on buying a MINI cooper however i’m aware of the reliability issues and maintenance cost. I was wondering who bc year is the best for reliability/ should i get cooper or cooper S bc i heard cooper S is just a little more reliable (not sure how true that is) and if i should get it manual or automatic (i’m in the U.S and never driven manual, again i heard the manual is more ...
