In 1976, Trust Houses Forte bought the lease of the Strand Palace Hotel from the Lyons Hotel Group. Over the next ten years, there was minor refurbishment throughout the hotel. In 1985, a more in-depth refurbishment was undertaken on all floors of the new hotel; this included new furniture, new bathrooms and a redecoration of the bedrooms.
The hotel is located on the top (5th) floor of the building which was once the grand ballroom of The Rubens at the Palace next door to the hotel and opened in 2000. It is the smallest of London's five star hotels with 30 rooms. [ 1 ]

The former Savoy Palace. Savoy Place is a large red brick building on the north bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster. It is on a street called Savoy Place; Savoy Hill and Savoy Street run along the sides of the building up to the Strand. In front is the Victoria Embankment, part of the Thames Embankment.
