Charles Richard Cross (May 7, 1957 – August 9, 2024) was an American music journalist, author and editor who was based in Seattle. [1] He documented the Seattle music scene as the editor of The Rocket in Seattle from 1986–2000.
As music critic and editor at the Los Angeles Times from 1970 to 2005, his reviews, essays, and profiles have appeared in publications worldwide. A member of the nominating committee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 20 years, he has written five books, including biographies of Johnny Cash, Paul Simon and Randy Newman.
