La Chureca (Spanish slang word for city dump) was the municipal domestic and industrial waste-disposal site in Managua, Nicaragua. It was the largest open-air landfill in Central America , covering 7 km 2 in the north-western corner of Managua.
In early 2000s Lacayo started to shoot photos of the daily lives of the people that live in La Chureca which is the dumpster in Managua and the largest of Nicaragua.
