Macomb County (/ m ə ˈ k oʊ m / mə-KOHM) is a county on the eastern shore of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area , bordering Detroit to the north and containing many of its northern suburbs.

Washington Township is in northwestern Macomb County and is bordered to the west by Oakland County. The village of Romeo is partially in the northeast part of the township. Ray Township is to the east, Shelby Township is to the south, and Bruce Township is to the north. Washington Township is 28 to 34 miles (45 to 55 km) north of downtown Detroit.
Chesterfield Township is in eastern Macomb County and is bordered on the north by Lenox Township and the village of New Haven; on the east by Ira Township in St. Clair County, and by the village of New Baltimore; on the southeast by Anchor Bay, which is a part of Lake St. Clair; on the south by Harrison Township; and on the west by Macomb Township.
The township is partially bordered to the west by the city of Mount Clemens, the Macomb county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 23.76 square miles (61.5 km 2 ), of which 14.25 square miles (36.9 km 2 ) are land and 9.51 square miles (24.6 km 2 ), or 40.03%, are water.
