The first election to the council was held in 1973, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 1974. County-level services were provided by West Yorkshire County Council until its abolition in 1986, when Calderdale became a unitary authority.

The 2012 Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council election took place on 3 May 2012 to elect members of Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council in West Yorkshire, England. [5] This was on the same day as other 2012 United Kingdom local elections .
The ward was created in 2018 when the provincial government aligned Toronto's then-44 municipal wards [2] with the 25 corresponding provincial and federal ridings. [3] The current ward is an amalgamation of the old Ward 17 (northern section), the old Ward 18 (southern section), and part of the western edge of the old Ward 19.
