Wynnewood (/ ˈ w ɪ n i w ʊ d / WIH-nee-wood) is a city in Garvin County, Oklahoma, United States. It is 67 miles (108 km) south of Oklahoma City . The population was 1,927 at the time of the 2020 census .
Joy is a community in Murray County, Oklahoma, United States.It is north of Davis and south of Wynnewood along US Route 77. [2] It was named for the nearby Joy School. Joy School, in turn, was the name selected from a 1922 student contest to choose a new name when the Carr Flats, Talley, and Wheeler schools consolidated.
The individuals were allowed to sell their land to non-Indians, causing a real estate boom in farmland around the area. By statehood, the city had 2,950 residents and was named as the county seat of Wagoner County. [5] In April 1914 Wagoner was the location of a brutal lynching of a 17 year old African American girl.
