Barry University is a private Catholic university in Miami Shores, Florida. Founded in 1940 by the Adrian Dominican Sisters , [ 5 ] it is one of the largest Catholic universities in the Southeast and is located within the Archdiocese of Miami .
The Law School was fully incorporated into Barry University and became Barry University School of Law. The A.B.A. agreed to reconsider the October 2000 application [15] however on December 3, 2001, the A.B.A. again rejected the school's accreditation. At this time the law school was renamed the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law.

Barry has won 66 SSC titles in 14 different sports since it joined the SSC in 1988. They are the only conference school to hold a league title in all 12 sports that they have sponsored. The Buccaneers have also won the SSC Women's Mayor's Cup All-Sports Trophy on five occasions, in 1990–91, 1996–97, 1999–00, 2001–02 and 2005–06.

Covone (born August 31, 1969, in Hialeah, Florida) is a retired American soccer forward who is the director of athletics for Barry University.Covone played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League and coached the Barry University women's soccer team from 1984 to 1994, winning three NCAA Division II national championships.
