Lagos State Government is the government of Lagos State, concerned with the administration of the state ministries. [1] The government consists of the executive, legislative and Judiciary. [2] The government is headed by the Governor who is the policy-maker and often assisted by the commissioners and other civil servants of the state. [3]
As of 12 November 2024, there are 21 states with APC governors, 12 states with PDP governors, 1 state each with APGA, Labour and NNPP governors. The current gubernatorial term ends and new term begins in May for most states, two to three months after their election. Governors are elected for a term of four years (maximum of two terms).
The Governor is made the sole repository of the executive powers of Lagos State, and the powers entrusted to him as well as the duties imposed upon him are awesome indeed.
