Lake O’ the Pines is a reservoir on Big Cypress Bayou, also known as Big Cypress Creek, chiefly in Marion County, Texas, United States. [1] The reservoir also occupies a small part of Camp, Upshur, and Morris Counties. The dam is located approximately 8.5 miles (13.7 km) west of Jefferson.
Lake of the Pines is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California, at 4]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km 2), of which, 1.5 square miles (3.9 km 2) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km 2) of it (19.00%) is water.
Located on Bass Lake within the Sierra National Forest, The Pines Resort is the only lakeside resort in the Yosemite area. This resort is on the North Shore of Bass Lake, 17 miles (27 km) miles from the Southern entrance of Yosemite National Park and an hour's drive north from Fresno. Accommodations range from fully equipped cabins to hotel suites.
In 1975, the lodge became part of The Pines Resort. Ducey's Lodge was featured in the 1987 film The Great Outdoors, which was shot at Bass Lake. The movie's vacation cabin set, built at Universal Studios, was designed to resemble the lodge's cabins. [5] [6] [7] On June 2, 1988, a kitchen fire led to the lodge's destruction. [8]
