The second-generation Chevrolet Camaro is an American pony car produced by Chevrolet from 1970 through the 1981 model years.It was introduced in the spring of 1970. [1] Build information for model 123-12487 [2] was released to the assembly plants in February of that same year.
The Camaro was first shown at a press preview in Detroit on September 12, 1966, and later in Los Angeles on September 19, 1966. The public introduction of the new model was on September 26, 1966. [14] The Camaro officially went on sale in dealerships on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year. [15]
1967 Camaro convertible, base six-cylinder model. The 1967 styling was done by the same team that had designed the 1965 second-generation Corvair. The Camaro shared the subframe / semi-unibody design with the 1968 Chevy II Nova. Almost 80 factory-and 40 dealer-installed options were offered, including the RS, SS, and Z/28 main trim packages.
Also built the first generation Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Chevelle, Chevrolet Chevy II / Nova, & the Chevrolet Corvair from CKD kits. Also built the Vauxhall Victor and the special Victor Riviera as well as the Vauxhall Cresta and Vauxhall Viscount. Afterwards the plant was used as GM's European central spare parts warehouse until 1992.

For 1971 the top-of-the-line Caprice was completely redesigned on a longer 121.5-inch (3,090 mm) wheelbase and featured bold, Chrysler-like fuselage styling. Flush exterior door handles and double-shell roofs were new on the Caprice – both features first appearing on the 1970½ Camaro and Pontiac Firebird.
