Allegra's Window is an American musical children's television series that aired on Nickelodeon during its Nick Jr. block from October 24, 1994, to December 8, 1996, [2] [1] with reruns being shown until February 5, 1999; [3] it was later shown on Noggin from February 2, 1999, to April 6, 2003.
Noggin started out as a cable TV channel. The channel's schedule was divided into two blocks: one for older children and teenagers, and one for preschoolers. [2] For its first three years, the older-skewing block made up most of Noggin's schedule, and the preschool shows were limited to the morning hours.
Doug and his dog Porkchop first appeared in Jinkins' book Doug Got a New Pair of Shoes, which led to his creating an animated pilot titled Doug Can't Dance. He sold the Doug pilot to Nickelodeon. The pilot tested higher than any other pilot for the network at the time. Jinkins established Jumbo Pictures in 1990 to produce Doug for Nickelodeon.
