The 1967–68 Philadelphia Flyers season was the Philadelphia Flyers' inaugural season and the first National Hockey League (NHL) season in Philadelphia, since the Philadelphia Quakers' 1930–31 season. The Flyers won the West Division, but lost in the first round of the playoffs to the St. Louis Blues in seven games.
They have played more than 400 playoff games, winning 221. As of the end of the 2018–19 season, Philadelphia has won more than 2,000 regular season games, the 7th-highest victory total among NHL teams and the most among non-Original Six teams. The Flyers' season came to an end against Fred Shero's Rangers in a five-game quarterfinals loss. The Flyers began the 1979–80 season with a somewhat controversial move by naming Clarke a playing assistant coach and giving the captaincy to Mel Bridgman. While Clarke was against this initially, he accepted his new role.
