Forestside is a shopping centre located in Newtownbreda in south Belfast, Northern Ireland. The first phase of the centre, the 39,000 square feet (3,600 m 2) Sainsbury's store, opened in March 1997 followed by the remainder of the centre in September 1998.
The business was founded by Thomas Cooke as the Northern Goldsmiths Company in Blackett Street in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1892. [1] [2] [3] After selling marine chronometers to the Admiralty during the First World War, [4] the company became the UK’s first appointed stockist of Rolex watches in 1919. [5]
The Forestside Shopping Centre was developed by Sainsbury's between 1996 and 1998. [2] Belvoir Park Golf Club and Belvoir Forest Park are also located nearby. A 48,000 square feet (4,500 m 2) Tesco store was built on a brownfield site, (formerly a warehouse for the Stewarts Supermarket chain) and opened in 2007. [3] [4]

Goldsmith's was a department store founded in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1870 by German immigrant brothers Jacob and Isaac Goldsmith. It grew into a chain largely located in the Memphis metropolitan area, until 2005, when the nameplate was eliminated and replaced by Macy's .
The course is immediately south of Belfast city centre and can be accessed in about 15 minutes from the city airport, city centre hotels and cruise liner port. To east and west are attractions: Belvoir Park Forest and Forestside Shopping centre; to the south is a motorway and to the north is an estate of large houses.
