Marcel Lajos Breuer (/ ˈ b r ɔɪ. ər / BROY-ər; 21 May 1902 – 1 July 1981) was a Hungarian-German modernist architect and furniture designer. He moved to the United States in 1937 and became a naturalized American citizen in 1944.
The concrete building and attached parking garage were designed by Marcel Breuer, in the Modernist and Brutalist architectural styles. The building also hosts Hotel UMass (formerly The Campus Center Hotel) on floors three through seven of the building. The hotel consists of 114 rooms.
