Built in 1961, the building that is now MSJH was originally Mahomet-Seymour High School. In 1981 the high school moved to its current building. MSJH has gone through many renovations and additions, including ten new rooms in 1994. As of the 2024-2025 school year, MSJH has an enrollment of 793 students across the three grade levels of 6th to 8th.
As of the 2022-2023 school year, the school has an enrollment of 987 students and a faculty of fifty-five full-time teachers. [6] On May 5, 2007, school board members unanimously approved a Mahomet-Seymour Schools Foundation plan to raise money to build a greenhouse. [7] In early 2008, the greenhouse was pronounced to be ready for spring. [8]
Franklin is in southeastern Morgan County. Illinois Route 104 runs through the southwest part of the village, leading northwest 14 miles (23 km) to Jacksonville, the county seat, and northeast 6 miles (10 km) to Waverly.
