The college building was initially located in Polytechnic campus of Bhuj. In 2001 after major earth quake struck Bhuj, entire college and hostel building was damaged beyond repair, so the college students (399 in total) were shifted to L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. in 2003 students were shifted back to New Building ( Present Building).

Government Engineering College, Dahod has two hostels, each for boys and girls. Boys Hostel is located inside the college campus. It has capacity of 120 students. The admission to first batch commenced in academic year 2013–14. Admissions to hostel are done every year based on number of vacant seats at that time.
