There was a big scandal some years back that the Hughes aircraft facility contaminated the water in South Tucson and gave people cancer. So personally, I still wouldn't trust the water in South Tucson. Elsewhere, as others have noted, it doesn't taste great but is safe. We have an RO system in the house for drinking water.
According to Tucson Water, they have enough water stored underground for the next century at current use. Also, all that snow last winter reportedly filled the aquifers, ending the drought. I've heard that there's still snow on the highest peaks, too. Lakes Mead and Powell have a lot more water now than a year ago.
Water Softener vs Conditioner Debate. Hello, my fellow Tucsonans! My family is finally able to think about installing a water softening system in our house. Anyone who lives here knows, Tucson has annoyingly hard water. My husband and I are trying to research and weigh the pros and cons of salt-based softening systems vs non-salt or water ...
Looking to move to Tucson, but I previously worked in Southern California and am weary of the water scarcity and shortage issues. Is water scarcity/rationing an issue in the city/surrounding county? I really don’t want to purchase a home and then run out of water in 15 years and be unable to sell it.
r/Tucson. •. Betty-Gay. ADMIN MOD. About my whole house water softener purchased from Valley Environmental Resources. So a few years ago just after we bought our house, we had a water softener company coke by and give us a sales pitch. We took the bait and signed up. The install went fine, and as far as we know the system was working fine ...
Keep in mind with all these "100 years" projections, that's just because that's as far as the projections go. Tucson won't suddenly be waterless in the 2120's. As we continue to improve capture, reuse, recharge, etc. over the next few decades that projection will continue to stretch into the future. Reply.
First welcome to Tucson. Second be aware of your water use and use common sense. Embrace the desert. My yard is full of green plants that are native including a tree that is over 30 ft tall. We don't use an irrigation system, have a great yard, and save on water. Tucson is offering free water conservation kits for people who are interested.
Get a free water conservation kit from Tucson Water. This was posted a few weeks ago but I wanted to remind y'all that Tucson Water received some federal grant money to give out free water conservation kits to Tucsonans. Stuff like low-flow showerheads, faucet aerators, toilet tank bags, leak detection tablets, drip irrigation repair kits, hose ...
Reply reply. thewerdy. •. It's fine. Tucson water tends to be on the hard side, so it can leave stains in sinks over time, but it's perfectly safe to drink. It tastes fine to me (at least in comparison to Phoenix water, which tastes disgusting). Some people have bottled water, some don't.
I had something similar happen, called Tucson water and they made an adjustment that cleared like $600 off the inflated bill. They monitor for a couple months to make sure it doesn’t happen again, and they also won’t make an adjustment like that again for at least three years, so if it happens again you’re kinda just stuck with the bill ...
