In 1961, the entities were legally merged and adopted the new name Hartford Seminary Foundation, which was used until 1981, when the simpler name "Hartford Seminary" came into use. [ 2 ] The Hartford Seminary Foundation published the Hartford Quarterly (originally named Bulletin – Hartford Seminary Foundation ) from 1960 to 1968.
By mid-2024, several more institutes had been accredited at ATS. Holy Apostles College and Seminary is a Catholic seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut. It was founded in 1956 on a 40-acre (160,000 m 2 ) property in Cromwell by Eusebe M. Menard to provide a program of education and formation for men intending to enter the priesthood .
St. Thomas Seminary was founded in 1897 by Bishop Michael Tierney, the sixth Bishop of Hartford. The original Seminary was located at 352 Collins Street in Hartford, in what was once the Chinese College. It opened its doors on September 7, 1897. [1] Bishop Tierney appointed the Right Reverend John Synnott as the first President of St. Thomas. [2]
