I just got off the phone with a friend in Lakewood Ranch. If you blow up the latest hurricane path map, the "line" goes exactly through his home. That said, Lakewood Ranch is about 10-12 miles inland. If you're in the path of a hurricane, it pays to be inland, have a recently constructed home and quality drainage system. The Villages has all 3.
my son just had a house built in Lakewood Ranch just outside Sarasota. THe course next to his development charges either $99 or $140 depending on time of day or weekend, TV courses don't look so bad compared to that. I however play the executives.
i really liked lakewood ranch, your close to world class beaches, culture, and high end, better quality restaurants. A mixed aged community. it is more high end than the villages with a median income approximately $50,000 higher than TV. Check it out, median income there is $130K, a truly lovely place
I lived there for eight years before moving onto Lakewood Ranch. While there is some truth to the article, there is obviously some false. Still have a number of friends there and still visit.
