Under the direction of the k.u.k. Works and Farming Ministry (Arbeits- und Ackerbauministerium) the place was opened up as a ski resort in 1909. After the Second World War, Kühtai grew rapidly into a hotel village and is today a popular hiking and skiing area. [1] In 1976/77 the church was built.

The name comes from the time when people crossed the Tauern Pass on foot with poor clothing and equipment, often in bad weather, losing their lives as a result. Often these travellers could not be identified and were thus buried "nameless". Today it is the cemetery for the population of the ski village of Obertauern.
The Silvretta Montafon ski area is located in the south of Vorarlberg, the westernmost province of Austria, and extends over 17 km and 1,700 meters in altitude from Schruns via Silbertal and St. Gallenkirch to Gaschurn. It lies in the Montafon valley, framed by the Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall mountain ranges.
Stuben am Arlberg is part of the Ski Arlberg skiing area, Austria's largest. Skiers have access to 88 lifts and slopes, with 305 downhill ski run kilometers (in Stuben, Zürs, Lech, Sankt Christoph and Sankt Anton), of which 131 kilometers are light, 123 average, 51 difficult, and 200 freeride slopes.
It is part of the wider 120km for the whole Schneebären area that includes 120 piste kilometres. The ski runs in the resort cater to all levels; 18 kilometres are for beginners (blue), 19 kilometres for intermediate (red) and 6 kilometres for the more advanced skiers (black) There are also 130 kilometres of cross-country trails in the area.
